New furnace/ac, duct work and cold air return

My husband, myself and 5 kids live in decent ranch style home that is in need of repairs to the furnace and heating ducts. So far we have been able to make it through each winter with minor repairs but the furnace is not sufficient to heat the entire house and the heating ducts are not properly installed. That just adds to the insufficient heating issue. We are in the dead of winter, following one of our biggest snows yet this year. I am worried we will not make thorugh this season.

My husband and I both work and have recently had to file bankruptcy to keep our home. We are now in good standing and our home is safe but we need to be sure we have adequate heat for our home. We received an estimate of $8000-$10000 to replace the furnace with a larger high efficiency furnace that will save on heating bills, new heating ducts and we also found that we need to add cold air returns to every room, not just the one room as it is now. The whold heating system was installed in the 70's and the previous owners added two bedrooms that the furnace can not even push heat to. It was already taxed, trying to push heat to the rooms is was suppose to heat (which it only heats one of the six bedrooms).

We are not necessarily looking for a hand out, though any donations would be a blessing. A loan would also be an option as we both work and can pay monthly installments. Of course, our bankruptcy will not allow us to get a commercial loan at any lending institution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

About DisabledLady

Hello -

I am in desparate need of $2350 for a new furnace.  It's starting to get cold at night and my old furnace has a gas leak that cannot be fixed at all.  If it kicks on it makes very loud explosive sounds (anywhere from 3 to 8 times until it connects) and throws flames 2 to 3 feet out of the furnace.  It is 42 years old.  If a repair man tries to pull the plate to see if he can fix it and the plate breaks (at that age there is an excellent chance it would) he would have to report it and I would have to move immediately because of CO.  I cannot move - I am 100% disabled and my monthly SSD check is not enough for everything now.  To try to hire movers would cost me even more and rent would be more than  my monthly payments.  I cannot afford it.

I am willing to pay back the money with terms I can afford.  Is there anyone that can please help me?

Thank you so very much.

About Trinityrivers

Hello we are in the process of turning our old ranch into a place of christian camp ground and retreat.  We are going to restore the old barn into a sanctuary.  The cost of restoring this barn we are estimating to be around $50,000. We are planning to host royal family kids camps for foster children, and make it a place of refreshment for ministers and pastors.  We want to have hunting available for christian hunters who want a wholesome place to hunt without being drug into things that usually go along with hunting.  When the sanctuary is done we want to host worship events with a lot of music, praise and fellowship.  We would also like to have a live nativity scene during the Christmas season and a program of the last supper around Easter every year.  Groups that would like to come out and spend time with the lord and just be away from everyday busy-ness this would be for them too.  We are specificly looking for someone to donate a central outdoor wood burning boiler to heat the old barn with.  We want to run water lines through the floor of the basement and heat it with one of those little outdoor woodburning houses.  We would also be so grateful to recieve any financial donation to help the vision become reality.    God Bless America

Thank you

About AC1222

I am new to this, and I really don't know where to start, but here it goes. My family is in some serious financial trouble and we are definately in over our heads. Let me start by telling everyone a little about myself and my family. I am 32 years old and come from a wonderful upbringing. My parents were divorced when I was too young to remember, but I had a very stable upbringing. I tried to go to college after high school but could not stay focused. My fiance and I decided to move from AZ to PA, where we had family. His mother was sick and he wanted to be near her. We both were able to get jobs and get all of our debt paid off while we lived with his parents. We moved out out on our own, got married and started to get in too deep. The house we were renting became too much to afford and they did not renew our lease. We moved in with my grandmother and that lasted all of 1 month until we found an apartment. We were heading in the right direction, and then I got pregnant. Our son was born in Oct 2002, and everything was great. Our landlord told us that we would have to move when our son started walking (we lived upstairs from her), so we decided to look into buying a house. We found a house we loved and the mortgage payments were only a little more than our rent, so we did it. We moved in exactly one month before our son turned one. Everything was good for a few months, then we started to get a little behind. We got caught back up and then my husband lost his job. He was making almost 15.00/hr and his unemployment was about half of that. To make matters worse, our car died, and our credit was not in the best condition to buy a new one. We were able to find someone to finance us, but at an astronomical rate. Then I got pregnant again. Our daughter was born in Dec 2006 and things just started snowballing from there. My husband took a job in June 2006, making 10.00/hr and is only making 11.50/hr now. I work as a Medical Assistant at an office that is on the verge of bankrupcy. Our mortgage payments (that are now 786.00 month because they are trying to catch us up) is behind again, and they want money by Friday (10/31) or they are going to start the forclosure process, and to top it all off, our furnance is broke and it is 38 degrees outside and snowing. We are heating our house with space heaters, so that are kids stay warm. I have to decide whether to pay the mortgage payment this week or fix the furnace. Our car also is almost 4 month overdue for inspection and needs breaks terribly. What to fix first???

I am tired of robbing Peter to pay Paul, because Peter has no more money to rob! My family does not have the money to loan me and my husbands dad moved away after his mom passed away 5 years ago. We hardly see him anymore (maybe twice a year) and he has helped us out before, so it is hard to ask again.

I have contacted assistance agencies with no avail. We make a little too much to qualify!

If any one has any suggestions or can help out in any way...it would definately not go unappreciated. I believe in paying it forward...and I know that someday my troubles will be gone and in their place will be someone else's and hopefully I will be able to lend a hellping hand (or a helping dollar).

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and may god bless your generosity!

Heat Help

Hi there,

I am in the process of searching for a corn/pellet stove to heat my old farm house. Money is a factor so was on the search for an inexpensive one.  I cannot afford to heat this house with oil as we all know the cost of that.  I am on a fixed budget and was wondering if any could offer any assistance in my endeavor.

Thanks

Although wetechnically own our house it is in a repairable state with alot of workto be done . The shingles on the exterior are asbestos and the furnace is quite old. The interior is old slat board which does not do much for insulation in the winter. All of these problems should be adddressed shortly, only with a mother that is 67 years old and a brother who is disabled himself i cannotdo this alone.
